January 1, 2009: Power Situation: status-quo
We thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the Hon’ble Minister for Electricity for dropping the proposal for two days Power Holiday in a week and the announcement that status-quo will be continued.
It may be noted that our Chamber along with other Associations had represented to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Electricity Minister not to proceed with the proposal for Power Holiday, in view of the fact that the Power Holiday cannot be enforced legally and hence the compliance from the consumers will be poor resulting in higher load on the grid which will lead to unscheduled power cuts.
The Government has considered our request and has agreed to maintain status-quo.
We have represented to the Hon’ble Minister for Electricity to announce reduction in the power cut and also permit the Industries to work during peak hours.
