November 27, 2009: Announcement on Creation of World Class Botanical Park in Coimbatore
The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore whole heartedly welcomes the announcement of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. Kalaignar M Karunanidhi that a World Class Botanical Park will be established in the present place where the Central Prison is located in Coimbatore.
We are glad, that this Park will have a wide range of trees, plants and flowers and would be maintained with the facilities of International standards.
On behalf of our Members and people of this region we thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister for this decision which is a very unique in the history of Coimbatore. A long pending demand of Coimbatorians - for shifting the Central prison from the heart of the City to outskirts - has become a reality. Establishing a World Class Park in the heart of the City on the occasion of World Tamil Conference, will be a permanent reminder of the great event scheduled for June 2010.
