Announcement of Special Trains

[ Date : 2011 Jul 29 ]

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore thanks the Indian Railways for running these special trains in the months of August, September and October, 2011.

We have been requesting for the Coimbatore - Rameswaram Trains for more than three years. The proposed link restores the trains which were stopped due to gauge conversion work in Madurai- Rameswaram section. These trains will help yatris travelling to Rameswaram and Thirupullani. A large number of employees in Coimbatore, Thiruppur and Erode industrial belt are the natives of Pudukkottai, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram Districts. These persons will now get an inexpensive, convenient and comfortable link to their native towns/villages. These trains connect Coimbatore with seven districts head quarters in Tamil Nadu.

We are sure these trains will become popular in course of time as local transport gets organized to provide connection to them and become permanent daily services.

We also request Railway Authorities day time trains in the same route for those travelling alone and women.

We also thank Railways for the additional train connecting Coimbatore and Thirupathi. We hope that this train will be made regular, combining with 12757/12758.

We request the travelling public to patronize these trains so that they will be made permanent, daily services.

We thank all the elected representatives from Coimbatore Region, Members of Parliament and Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for their support to our requests.

We thank the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for taking up our request with Government of India.

We thank the Union Ministers from Tamil Nadu for their assistance in this matter. We hope they will continue their support to our other requests to the Railway authorities.
