On behalf of people of Coimbatore Region and Members of The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, whole heartedly welcomes the speedy action of the Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways Ms. Mamata Banerjee for flagging off the new train service - Intercity Express between Coimbatore and Tirupathi and also Coimbatore – Erode MEMU train from today (25.1.2011). We are also pleased to note that Duronto Express train between Chennai and Coimbatore would be inaugurated on Republic day i.e. on 26.1.2011.
While, we thank the Hon’ble Railway Minister for fulfilling the Railway requirements announced in the last budget, we also earnestly appeal to the Minister to consider the long pending pleas of people of this region for:
a) Introduction of an over night express train between Coimbatore and Bangalore.
b) Extension of Trivandrum - Palakkad Amritha Express up to Coimbatore and
c) To maintain status-quo for reservation of seats in train No.2677 / 2678 Bangalore – Coimbatore Express.
We appeal to the Hon’ble Union Railway Minister to consider the above demands of Coimbatoreans for getting their basic needs of Railway amenities on priority basis.
Chamber hopes that the Railway Minister will fulfill our Railway requirements in the forthcoming Railway Budget 2011-2012.
