We are pleased to inform you that our Chamber has organized a meeting with Shri Sunil Chopra IRS, Income Tax Ombudsman, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry and Shri P S Chellaphan IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore at 5.00 pm on Wednesday the 25th January 2012 at our Chamber Towers, Avinashi Road, Coimbatore.
Shri Sunil Chopra has taken charge as Ombudsman during the last week of March 2011 and he has solved so far over 435 cases of refunds. Ombudsman is an Authority instituted for redressing the legitimate grievances of the Tax payers. Shri Chopra takes extensive efforts for conduct of awareness campaign on the functioning of IT Ombudsman. This is the first time Shri Chopra visits Coimbatore. The meeting with Shri Chopra on 25.1.2012 would enlighten the Tax payers about the existence of the office of IT Ombudsman among businessmen and salaried tax payers.
The meeting is open to all and participants can seek clarification on Non credit of tax paid, including TDS, delay in disposing cases of interest waiver, Delay in release of seized books of account and assets, Delay in issue of refunds beyond time limits prescribed by law, Delay in disposal of rectification applications and giving effect to the Appellate Orders.
